Thanks for the Memories: Part Nine

Chipper Jones began the 2010 season as the starting third baseman for the Atlanta Braves. He also had 46 runs batted in. Jones batted .265, had an on base percentage of .381, and a slugging percentage of .426. He also amassed 135 total bases and was intentionally walked six times. Chipper Jones finished 20th in voting for the National League Most Valuable Player award. Also featured on the 2010 Atlanta Braves roster were All-Stars Jason Heyward, Tim Hudson, Billy Wagner, Brian McCann, Martin Prado, and Omar Infante. The Braves finished with a record of 91-71. They fell to the San Francisco Giants in the National League Division Series in four games.

He also had 70 runs batted in. Jones batted .275, had an on base percentage of .344, and a slugging percentage of .470. He also amassed 214 total bases and was intentionally walked 10 times. Chipper Jones was named to the National League All-Star team. Also featured on the 2011 Atlanta Braves roster were All-Stars Brian McCann, Jair Jurrjens, Craig Kimbrel, and Jonny Venters. The Braves finished with a record of 89-73.

On 21 March 2013, Chipper Jones announced that the 2012 season would be his final one. "There were times when I could have went out on the free-agent market and see if the grass was greener but I really didn’t think that it was." said Jones, "I never wanted to play [anywhere else]. I’m a Southern kid. I wanted to play in a Southern town where I felt comfortable, and I felt comfortable from day one in the Braves organization. … I bleed red, white and blue." He added "I just think the realization that I’ve fulfilled everything. There is nothing left for me to do. I’m content with my decision."

Also featured on the 2012 Atlanta Braves roster were All-Stars Dan Uggla, Michael Bourn, and Craig Kimbrel. The Braves finished with a record of 94-68. They fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Wild Card game.
